Upgraded High Voltage Direct Current Test Center Complex listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The HVDC test Center was the first test facility of its kind in the United States and was established to expand operating knowledge of the direct current electricity distribution. When first energized in the 1970’s the 846 mile-long direct current portion of the line was heralded as the longest of its kind in the world. The HVDC Test Center is comprised of three buildings:  The Power Supply Building, the Control House and the Fog Chamber.
